THE WELSH SPACE AGENCY

About This Project

The Welsh Space Agency poster

THE WELSH SPACE AGENCY is a quirky absurdist comedy,  high on charm and warm Welsh wit, set in  in a small forgotten Welsh mining town in the valleys.

As the story begins, we discover that the mayor of the former mining town dreams of joining the space race. But he’s neither an astronaut nor a rocket scientist. With his town on the brink of bankruptcy and his electorate threatening to replace him with a dog, it’s looking like his cosmic ambitions will be grounded forever. That is, until a chance meeting with a corrupt official inadvertently lands him with millions of pounds of misdirected NASA funding and the urgent need to develop a functioning space rocket in a matter of weeks. The race is on to pull off the greatest scientific deception since NASA faked the moon landing. To be directed by highly experienced BBC comedy director, Adam Oldroyd, and drawing upon an exceptional pool of Welsh comedy actors, this will be a feel-good comedy in the tradition of HEAR MY SONG, BRASSED OFF, PASSPORT TO PIMLICO and THE ENGLISHMAN WHO WENT UP A HILL BUT CAME DOWN A MOUNTAIN.
